Greetings!
School
is out! It's time for beach vacations and
bar-b-ques! But for some small business
owners in Gardiner it's time to gear up for the
tourist season. College students are
replaced by retirees, skiers by climbers.
No rest for the weary. With all that in
mind, we promise to make this newletter short
and sweet.
We
have some exciting events just over the horizon
- and before you know it winter will be
back!

GAB
News
 Our first scholarships
were presented by GAB President, Leitha M.
Ortiz-Lesh, to two graduating seniors from our
local school districts: Michael Nelson
from Wallkill Central School District (pictured
here with his parents David and Melissa); and
Joseph Ridgeway from New Paltz Central School
District. Michael will begin school in the
fall at Universal Technical Institute in Exton,
PA in his pursuit of a career as an auto
technician. Joseph has already taken his
DOT exam to reach his goal of becoming
a Union Welder. These career choices
require tools and supplies that come at a
very high price. We are happy to be able
to assist these future entrepreneurs in
realizing their dreams.
 As you may have heard,
Cinda Baxter, founder of the 3/50 Project is heading
to our neck of the woods this summer.
Thanks to the joint efforts of GAB and the New
Paltz Regional Chamber, Cinda will be the guest
speaker at a Networking Breakfast on Friday,
August 13, 2010, at the SUNY New Paltz Lecture
Hall, Room 102. Check in begins at
8:00am. There will be a continental
breakfast and networking session until the
seminar begins at 8:30 am, followed by a second
networking session after the seminar from about
9:30 to 10:00am. Sponsorship slots are
still available. GAB and NPRCoC Member
Ticket Price is $20 in advance/ $25 at the
door. Non-Member are $30 in advance/$35 at
the door. Contact the NPR Chamber to
purchase tickets at 845-255-0243 or to purchase

information about sponsorship opportunities contact us.
 Our next dinner meeting is
scheduled for July 21, 2010. We have not
locked in a location yet but we have confirmed
guest speakers. The focus will be on
taking full advantage of the Internet to promote
your business. We'll discuss everything
from utilizing your free webpage on the GAB
website to promoting each other using social
media like Facebook and Twitter. We'll
also have reports regarding the Classics
Under the Gunks Car Show and other upcoming
events. Keep and eye out for the
invitation! | |
